Surgical HAIR TRANSPLANT

before after hair images

A head full of hair is ideal for men, and many are disappointed when their hair starts thinning and fall
out. Few are blessed with hair resistant to balding, while most notice balding in their mid-forties.
However, in our clinic, we do see many young men in their early twenties who have lost their hair
even before marriage.

When detected early baldness can be delayed to a great extent with multiple new therapies such as
stem cell therapy, Platelet-rich plasma, minoxidil and oral medications. However, most of the time
people regret what is already lost. To them, hair transplantation is an effective remedy for their
baldness.

In most of the cases, baldness is genetic. It can be inherited either from father or mother side and
can skip a generation. Other causes can be poor nutrition, stress, hormonal imbalances, scarring
and other scalp diseases.

Yes. If detected early, medications can preserve the hair and prevent baldness.

Hair Transplant Surgery is an effective treatment for baldness where growing hair is transplanted
from one area of the body to another. Great technological advancements, research and
instrumentation have allowed individual follicles to be transplanted.

Previous methods of transplantation involved cutting a strip of hair from the back of the head and
cutting out of individual follicles before implantation. This technique is called as follicular unit
transplantation(FUT), and resulted in a scar in the back of the head. In the latest method, we employ
called Follicular unit extraction the same is not required as the follicles are individually extracted.

You may have noticed that most guys get balled in the front and top of the head and the last to fall
out are the hairs in the back of the head. This is because the hair in the back of the head is naturally
resistant to baldness. When the same are transplanted to the bald areas they retain this resistance
to baldness and thus last a very long time.

Yes. Transplantation can be done within areas of thinning hair to restore the hair density. Medicines
will be prescribed to make even the existing thinning hair recover their density so that maximal
density of hair can be achieved.

By using PRP therapy, and stem cell stimulating factors. along with oral medication

It takes about 6 – 8hours time and is done in our operation theatre, under local anaesthesia, to
numb areas being treated, under strict aseptic precautions. You will be required to change positions
a few times to access different areas of the scalp. No admission is required. Dressing done is
minimal. Snacks tea and coffee are served intermittently. You can drive back home.

The entire surgery is done under local anaesthesia. No pain will be felt throughout the procedure.
Medicines given for pain and swelling will take care of any discomfort after the procedure.

We respect the privacy of all our patients. We do not post any pictures of you on our site, even with
eyes covered etc, unless you expressly allow us to do in writing.

In the immediate aftermath, you will have to treat the scalp delicately to prevent the grafts from being
pulled out. however one healing is complete, you can treat your hair just as you do now. You are
however encouraged to maintain the hair properly as we will advise.

No side effects are known from this surgery. Minimal swelling may be seen which will subside with
medicines. No long-term complications.

Baldness can occur in women. While there is a genetic component, many ladies have other medical
problems resulting in hair fall. So we encourage medical investigations and treatment in women.
However, if necessary hair transplantation can be done as a last resort.

Hair can be technically harvested and transplanted anywhere on the body.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder that leads to unusual and unpredictable hair loss from the scalp. The body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles and causes hair to come out.

At the start, hair tends to fall out in extremely small patches that are generally unnoticeable. Over time, these small spots tend to connect and the hair fall is fairly visible in coin-sized patches.

Alopecia areata is a skin condition but does not cause any scarring, redness, rashes, or any other change in the texture of the skin in the affected area. It can affect both men and women.

Although alopecia areata is rare for kids below 3 years of age and most cases are reported before the age of 30, this medical condition can affect people of any age group irrespective of their gender.

Alopecia areata usually develops slowly and can re-occur years after the previous incidents. Some people may also experience their hair to grow back in one patch and fall off from another. Also, hair loss may become intense in cold weather.

Most patients also complain of their fingernails and toenails becoming red, pitted, and brittle.

A few patients of alopecia areata may even notice some hair loss from eyebrows, eyelashes, and other parts of the face. In some extreme cases, alopecia areata can also lead to alopecia totalis i.e. total loss of hair on the scalp and alopecia universalis where all body hair is completely lost.

Alopecia areata is known to prevent the hair from growing back in the affected area. Also, if hair re-grows, it is possible for them to fall off again. The extent of hair loss and regrowth in alopecia areata varies from person to person.

Alopecia areata is believed to be a genetic disorder as 1 in 5 people who have this medical condition also have another family member with the same disease.

There have been some medical researches and studies that have scientific evidence of alopecia areata being associated with stress. Other risk factors of alopecia areata include asthma, down syndrome, thyroid, anaemia, vitiligo, and seasonal allergies.

If you have any early signs, you must visit a dermatologist or a skin specialist. The doctor will take a closer look at the areas where you have hair loss and also try to pull hair gently on the edges of the patch to see if they come out easily.

The doctor will check individual hair strands to see if they are abnormally shaped and also examine your nails. For an accurate diagnosis, a biopsy may be recommended where a small piece of scalp skin is removed and looked at under a microscope. In case of any ambiguity, the doctor is likely to test your skin for fungal infection, and request for blood tests to check for thyroid and hormone issues.

At present, there is no cure for alopecia areata but there are treatment methods that prevent further hair loss and also help hair to quickly re-grow on the scalp and other affected areas of the face. Doctors also help patients deal with stress related to hair loss.

Dandruff Treatment

Dandruff Treatment

Dandruff is a medical condition that causes dry white-coloured flakes of skin to appear on the scalp. Skin flakes can also appear on eyebrows, beards, and even the moustache.

Dandruff is produced due to excessive exfoliation of the scalp skin. Often visible on the collars and shoulders, dandruff is common and harmless but can cause itching and lead to embarrassment.

Opposed to what most people believe, dandruff isn’t about your hair, it is about the skin of your scalp. Dandruff can also affect the new-borns and usually gets worse in cold dry winters or when you are unwell or feeling stressed.

Dandruff is not related to poor hygiene but can be caused by dry, irritated, and oily skin. As washing and brushing the hair frequently helps remove old skin flakes, dandruff is more visible when the person has not shampooed their hair in a long time.

Other common risk factors of dandruff include having certain skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. An unknown sensitivity to hair care products can also cause dandruff to get worse.

Not consuming sufficient amounts of zinc, Vitamin B, and some specific types of fats can also cause dandruff. It has been commonly linked to stress and medical conditions namely Parkinson’s disease, seborrheic dermatitis, and neurological illness.

In most cases, you do not require to see a doctor for mild dandruff. It can be easily cured by managing stress levels and using a gentle hair shampoo to wash your hair daily. Certain home remedies of getting more exposure to sunlight and using tea tree oil to massage your scalp are also known to work wonders to ease the symptoms of dandruff.

There are various over the counter solutions to dandruff but at times, dandruff can be really difficult to heal. Some patients experience relief from dandruff by using medicated shampoos but symptoms are likely to return after stopping its continued use.

Although dandruff is common and does not cause any complications, if you develop extreme symptoms, you must not take it lightly as a worsening condition of dandruff can be a sign of a serious medical condition.

If dandruff is accompanied by any other symptoms such as redness, swelling, or tenderness along with visible signs of eczema, psoriasis, or other skin diseases, you must visit a dermatologist or a skin specialist and get a check-up for other medical complications.

Dandruff is easily visible to the naked eye but the doctor will conduct a thorough scalp examination to check for other symptoms and rule out the possibility of other skin diseases. In some cases, the dermatologist might request for a scalp biopsy to confirm his diagnosis before offering treatment advice.

The treatment for dandruff is aimed to reduce the inflammation of the scalp skin. Doctors either prescribe creams and lotions that are known to help reduce the inflammation or recommend using anti-yeast shampoos and lotions. In extreme cases, doctors always find out the underlying cause of dandruff than just treating the symptoms.

Hair Loss Treatment

Hair loss

Hair loss can appear in many different ways and may or may not be temporary.

In both men as well as women, heredity is the most common cause of hair loss. Alopecia is also caused due to hormonal changes, radiation therapy, or even unrelated medical conditions. Some other risk factors of alopecia include stress, hair treatments, and poor nutrition. This medical condition can also be accelerated due to a major illness or trauma.

Hair loss may happen abruptly or gradually over the course of a few years. Scalp hair loss can occur to anyone at any age but it is more prevalent in older men.

Heredity hair loss is the most common cause of baldness in growing age.

Some of the most popular signs of hair loss include thinning of hair, circular bald patches, receding hairline, sudden loosening of hair, or full-body hair loss.

Temporary hair loss isn’t anything to be worried about but excessive and continued hair loss can be a sign of a medical condition and must not be ignored.

Losing an unusual amount of scalp hair can change a person’s appearance and become a cause of extreme psychological stress.

Although hair loss due to genetics cannot be avoided, there are a few things that you can do to prevent non-hereditary alopecia. You must always be gentle with your hair and ensure to use a wide-toothed comb that helps prevent unnecessary breakage during detangling.

Don’t wear tight hairstyles that put additional pressure on your hair. These hairstyles when done regularly can cause permanent damage to your hair follicles and lead to alopecia. Avoid using bleaching agents, blow dryers, hair straighteners, and other hair styling tools frequently.

Do not wash your hair more than twice a week and always protect your skin from direct sunlight. Quit smoking and eat a nutritious diet that is rich in iron and protein. This will help you prevent hair loss and pre-mature balding.

If you suddenly begin to lose more hair than what is normal or see visible bald patches on your scalp, you must discuss the problem with a skin specialist. The doctor will identify the underlying cause of hair loss and help you address your medical concerns while also managing the symptoms of alopecia.

COSMOCARE CLINIC IS NOW OFFERING TREATMENTS LIKE #PRP ( PLATELET RICH PLASMA) . #STEM CELL THERAPY#, lowlevel laser therapy THERAPY, #NUTRITIONAL THERAPY. FOR REGROWTH OF HAIR.

Scalp micropigmentation

You may have already heard of microblading for full brows. Did you know there’s a similar practice for your scalp?

This procedure is known as scalp micropigmentation (SMP), which creates the illusion of fuller hair.

But what’s the exact difference?

“Although both fall under the category of micropigmentation, [microblading and micropigmentation] are very different methods of implanting pigment,” explains Dr.Sri divya, a Hyderabad based makeup artist and SMP practitioner.

While microblading is typically done with a manual blade, micropigmentation is performed using an electric tattoo device. This is because more power is needed to penetrate the skin on your scalp, which is thicker than the skin under your eyebrows.

How does SMP work, and who can benefit from it?

The goal of SMP isn’t to create hairlike lines as you would when microblading eyebrows, but instead to use tiny, layered dots in different hues of black to replicate the look of a shadow on your scalp. This style, referred to as pointillism, is done to create natural-looking depth and definition.

A skilled practitioner will work to ensure the dots look like a natural hair follicle and blend in seamlessly with your complexion.

This process may be useful for people who experience all forms of hair loss. This includes folks with:

  • cancer
  • alopecia
  • thinning hair
  • male and female pattern baldness

Does it hurt? What’s the process like? So, just how painful is this procedure?

The short answer is, it depends.

Before the procedure, your SMP practitioner will apply a topical numbing agent to your scalp. That said, it’s good to keep in mind that there may still be some discomfort. However, how much discomfort largely depends on your pain tolerance.

People with scalp acne or other skin sensitives like psoriasis should avoid getting SMP during a breakout or flare-up, as it will be difficult to apply pigment to the inflamed areas. If you’re prone to developing keloids, which are more common in darker skin, you may also not be a good candidate for SMP.

Once you’ve done your research and sought out a responsible and skilled SMP artist (more on how to do this below), you’ll likely have an initial consultation. During this meeting, your practitioner will prep you for what to expect and how you should prepare beforehand.

For example, here are some general guidelines:

  • Shower before each You won’t be able to wash or wet your scalp (this includes sweating excessively) for four days after each appointment.
  • Each treatment typically takes between four and five
  • How many treatments you need will depend on the amount of scalp getting Even if it’s only for a small area like a widow’s peak, Cohen says three to four treatments are still needed for long-term retention since SMP is a process of layering color.
  • Treatments will be scheduled a few weeks

In the weeks between treatments, don’t go swimming, use steam or sauna rooms, or take extremely hot showers that may cause a steam storm.

Avoid exposing your scalp to the sun for the first four days (wearing a hat is fine). On the fifth day after treatment, you can expose the treated skin to sun for one hour, or 45 minutes if you have very fair skin.

Keep in mind, though, that less sun exposure to the treated area means better long- term retention.

After your final treatment, it’s essential to:

  • Avoid swimming, saunas, and steam rooms for 28 days after your final
  • Keep out of the sun for 28 days after Thereafter, use SPF 30–50 sunscreen.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for five days after your final
  • Begin to regularly moisturize the treated area after the fourth day of your final treatment (this is also true between treatments).

How much does it cost, and how long does it last?

The price of SMP varies depending on how much of your scalp needs to be covered. Cohen says each treatment typically between runs between $400 and $1,000.

Micropigmentation is considered semipermanent. While the effects may last up to eight years, the treated area will fade over time since all skin naturally exfoliates itself.

While the color may lighten, it’ll only change if an incorrect pigment is used.

That said, if you have very dry skin, fading is likely to happen more quickly. As the skin tends to flake with dry skin, this can inadvertently exfoliate the pigment off at a quicker rate.

Non Surgical hair treatment

Are there any risks involved in this process?

As is the case with most medical procedures, there are risks involved with SMP. While micropigmentation isn’t technically considered a tattoo — tattoo ink goes much deeper into the skin and is injected with a thicker needle — services like SMP and other permanent makeup do carry similar risksTrusted Source. These include allergies to certain components in the pigment and infection associated with the tattoo ink.

However, the most important thing to be aware of is that no formal training is required to become an SMP artist (the same goes for microblading). It’s for this reason that it really is vital that you do your due diligence when searching for a reliable practitioner.

How to find the right SMP practitioner for you.

Before you decide on an SMP practitioner, it’s crucial to do your homework. Make sure to visit the office where the service will be performed.

High-quality SMP treatment centers should have:

  • certification of SMP training
  • body art practitioner license on display (depending on state requirements)
  • bloodborne pathogens certification
  • county health permit
  • clean and sterile environment with a sink
  • packaged needles that can be opened in front of the client
  • barrier protection during treatment (nitrile gloves, mask, barrier tape, and guards on SMP treatment device).

Ultimately, it’s essential to remember that SMP is an investment. But if done correctly by a qualified and trained artist, SMP can be a truly confidence- boosting procedure with no downtime.
